This only goes to prove that sometimes a bit of extra money spent will save you money down the line
During an emergency you are forced to make quick decisions and face the consequences later. Sometimes these are wise choices and sometimes we regret them. These types of hasty decisions sometimes come into play in non-emergency situations too. When our air conditioner needed the blower motor replaced we were faced with the choice of paying the really high repair bill or simply buying a whole new unit. The motor was no longer under warranty so we knew that we would be responsible for the part as well as all the labor to fix the problem. The cost of this repair was over a thousand dollars and the replacement cost, thanks to a special our dealer was running, was just under two thousand. We weighed the options carefully including the savings on energy bills that we would see with the new unit. After careful consideration we decided to simply install the new one. Even though the out of pocket expense was more we also realized that the new unit would be under warranty for the next five years too. This meant that we would save on any maintenance and even get a discount on our service calls. In the long run, the new system would pay for itself and we would be better off too. We even looked into tax incentives and found that we could get a small credit there as well. This only goes to prove that sometimes a bit of extra money spent will save you money down the line. Always make sure to get all the facts before making a decision of your own.
